An event every 2 weeks that begins at 5:00 pm on Monday, repeating until June 27, 2023
Do you experience social anxiety? Do you suffer from a strong inner critic?
Do you both long to be seen and fear being seen?
Do you struggle to know how you’re feeling, what’s going on inside? Does this get harder or near impossible in social situations?
Do you ever feel like you need to perform or please people when you’re speaking?
Would you like to be able to be more real with people?
Do you long for more intimacy in your life?
In relational practice, we are learning to speak from a different place than the ego. Instead of telling our story of who we are, we are simply tracking our internal experience. What is happening right now? And now? As the speaker, we name the physical sensations, emotions, thoughts and energies that are continuously moving through while being witnessed. As witness, we are both receiving the other and also tracking our own inner experience. How are we impacted by what the other is saying and experiencing?
This is an awareness practice that takes mindfulness on the road. In silent meditation we learn about our patterns and how our minds work but it can be quite challenging to integrate those insights into our daily life or maintain that level of mindfulness while in connection. Because relationality is highly complex! There is a lot going on! This practice slows it down and gives it a structure within which we can observe all the movements and responses more closely.
Relational Practice aims to create a kind space where you can speak your internal experience in a more real way and be witnessed. What if we felt more free to just be throughout our day, without so many inhibitions and fear of judgment?
We meet in the studio upstairs at Good Medicine Collective at 231 York Street. The cost is sliding scale $10-$30 per session. You can pay at the door with cash or via Venmo (@goodmedicine). Feel free to email firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions!
