Singing in community is a powerful yet radically simple way to nourish ourselves and our relationships with one another. We sing songs of courage and connection in the oral tradition of call-and-response community singing that welcomes ALL voices.
Join community song leader, Josh Blaine (visiting from Austin, TX) for an evening of oral tradition community singing! Josh teaches simple yet powerful songs of “connection and courage” that quickly bring us into our bodies and into connection with one another. The songs are a mixture of his own original songs, those of fellow community song leaders from around the country, and some from his own Jewish tradition.
It can be vulnerable to show up and sing with others; a lot of care is taken to create a brave space for finding our voices together. All songs are taught in the moment – no need to read music or know any of the songs beforehand. All are welcome – “singers” and “non-singers” alike!
Suggested donations on a sliding scale of $9-$18 are graciously accepted to help support our mutual flourishing but your presence is the greatest gift of all. No one turned away for lack of funds.
Come sing! It’s an uplifting and inspiring way to engage with yourself and others. Describe how your event is good medicine for the body/mind/spirit. Singing in groups is one of the oldest technologies of belonging. It nourishes our need for connection with one another more effectively and more quickly than most other group activities. More and more studies are proving what many cultures have known for millenia – that singing in community relaxes our bodies, increases our capacity for empathy and understanding, and brings our nervous systems into peaceful, regulated states.
