A Conscious Approach to Pain
September 12, 2020 @ 8:00 am - 4:00 pm
An event every day that begins at 8:00 am, repeating until September 13, 2020
Pain has the potential to inform us, to provide the call to consciousness. And without reflection on the significance on pain, analgesia may rob us of the stimulus and the motivation toward further integration of oneself: body, mind, and spirit. Combining the somatic maps from Travell’s trigger point patterns with structural principles of osteopathic medicine, traditional Chinese meridians and the philosophy of yoga, we broaden diagnostic and treatment options for the patient with pain. We will emphasize “hands-on” table training and focus on educating the patient to become increasingly self-responsible. All of the workshop facilitators are teachers for or graduates of the University of Arizona’s Center for Integrative Medicine founded by Andrew Weil. This course is intended for MDs, DOs and advanced practice providers. Full participation includes 8am-5pm Saturday and Sunday which earns 15 CMEs. By the end of the weekend, you will be able to perform simple osteopathic techniques in your practice, teach your patients healing posture, practical ergonomics and clinically applied yoga.
